Astronomy on Tap DC: Jan 16, 2018

The first Astronomy on Tap DC of 2018 will take place on Tuesday January 16th at DC9 Nightclub! We’ll dig into the science behind some of the biggest astronomy discoveries from 2017. Our talk line-up for the night:

Our First Interstellar Asteroid: Questions, Answers… and Aliens? – Matthew Knight (University of Maryland)

The Golden Link Between Gravitational Waves and Your Jewelry – Ori Fox (Space Telescope Science Institute)

Following the talks, we’ll have telescope viewing on the rooftop bar (weather permitting), courtesy of Becca Ljungren and her team of astronomy educators from the Public Observatory at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.

We’ll have prize giveaways, including astronomy trivia where you can win an Astronomy on Tap DC pint glass! AoTDC T-shirts and additional AoTDC pint glasses will be available for a small donation.

  1. Can I bring a very well behaved baby? Or will the bar make a big deal out of it?

    • The bar’s policy is 21+. I don’t know if they’ll make an exception for a baby, and I suspect it might depend on who’s working the door that night and how strictly they’ll enforce the 21+ policy.
