AoT-Tucson #64: Extreme Science at the Whipple Observatory @ Borderlands Brewing Co. November 13th

Tucson’s local flavor of Astronomy on Tap, #SpaceDrafts, presents its 64th edition with astronomers Leslie Taylor, Ari Brill, and Michael Daniel:

Detecting Astrophysical Gamma Rays from the Ground – Leslie Taylor

A Tour through our Extreme Universe – Ari Brill

How to Measure the Size of a Star – Michael Daniel

Please join astronomers Leslie Taylor (University of Wisconsin-Madison), Ari Brill (Columbia University), and Michael Daniel (Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics) as they tell us about a wide range of astronomical research happening at the Fred Lawrence Whipple Observatory. Located on Mount Hopkins, Arizona, the Fred Lawrence Whipple Observatory hosts a variety of state-of-the-art research telescopes, including the MMT and the VERITAS array. Leslie, Ari, and Michael are all currently stationed at Mt. Hopkins, and they are working on a variety of topics, including high-energy gamma rays, the extreme universe, and stellar astrophysics.

The event is on November 13th, 7pm, at the Borderlands Brewing Company (119 E. Toole Ave, Tucson AZ).
