Astronomy on Tap Chile #7: May 26th at The Shamrock

The theme for Santiago’s latest edition of AoT will be “Origins” – just how did all of these incredible things we see come into existence, anyhow? PhD student Luca Matra will tell us how stars are born, and ESO staff astronomer Dimitri Gadotti will explain how they become part of galaxies. Roger Wesson will then finish by talking about “The washing machine and the watchmaker”… Intriguing!

When: Tuesday 26th May, 20:30

Where: The Shamrock, Providencia

Astronomy on Tap Chile #6: April 28 at The Shamrock

For AoT Chile numero seis, we will be having an evening celebrating 25 years of one of the greatest telescopes ever built – the Hubble Space Telescope.

Our three speakers from the European Southern Observatory will tell us about the telescope’s history (and it wasn’t all plain sailing!), how it vastly improved images of the cosmos and therefore our science, and how staring at one tiny patch of sky went from being the biggest risk to one of the greatest things ever done in astronomy.

All of our games will also be Hubble themed, with super ESO goodies up for grabs!

When: Tuesday 28th April, 20:30
