THIS MONTH’S EVENT
You think Arizona summers are extreme? Join LPL grad, Jonathan Bapst, to learn about the climate on Mars. It’s a dry cold! Then, join PSI scientist and prodigious observer, Gil Esquerdo (yes, he has an asteroid named after him), to learn about the successor to the incredible Kepler Mission: NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite – TESS, and how we’re going to find tens of rocky worlds like Earth!
April 26th, 7pm, at the Borderlands Brewing Company (119 E. Toole Ave, Tucson AZ)
Click to RSVP on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/events/637541746452344/) to help us for logistics! Come hungry!
Astronomy on Tap TUS is held one Wednesday of every month at one of Tucson’s finest microbreweries, The Borderlands Brewing Company (119 E. Toole Ave., Tucson) at 7.00pm.
It’s organized by professional astronomers Sarah Morrison (LPL), Dr. Gautham Narayan (NOAO) & Evan Schneider (Steward Observatory).
Everything you spend on t-shirts or other swag goes directly to outreach. We work with local schools & colleges, as well as organizing Astronomy Nights and much else. If you are an educator and need a speaker for class, or a tour of one of the observatories around Tucson organized, get in touch with us (our emails are up top on our personal pages)!
You can find some pictures from previous things we’ve organized here!
Originally started as a talk series by Vanessa Bailey and Rob Zellem, Space Drafts (as we still call ourselves because AoTTUS is pretty tortured) now comes with
- trivia (we have cool prizes to give away)
- star-gazing (if the monsoon cooperates)
- a local food truck serving up deliciousness
- and puppies (no really, we have mascots)
Miss out on a previous talk? No worries! We’ve got a bunch of them recorded:
We’re generously hosted by Mike Mallozzi & his team at the award-winning Borderlands Brewing Co.! These guys are the best! Tip your bartenders!
