Our next event is Monday, June 5th from 5-7pm, where we’ll find out “All About Black Holes”! Penn State professor Mike Eracleous will be giving a general black holes talk, and graduate student Michael Rodruck will talk about the recent LIGO discovery of black hole mergers and gravitational waves. This month, there will be extra time for questions so come curious and ready to ask all your black hole questions! As always, trivia and prizes will take place between talks!
The first talk starts at 5:30, but come at 5 for a good seat and to take advantage of the 4-6pm happy hour.

Astronomy on Tap hosts a screening of the historical document GALAXY QUEST on Wednesday June 7th 2017. The movie will be followed by a discussion of the science by AoTATX co-founder and Host Star Remnant Dr. Rachael Livermore along with three special guests: fellow AoTATX co-founder Dr. Jeffrey Silverman, Dr. Ashley Pagnotta from the American Museum of Natural History, and Moiya McTier from Columbia University.
The screening will be held at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar, which features a full bar and restaurant with service to your seat during the movie.
Tickets for this event cost $11.64 and are available through the Alamo Drafthouse website. These events have reserved seating and space is limited, but if you are unable to attend in person you can catch the post-movie talks on the AoTATX YouTube channel!
Join us at 7:30PM, Monday, June 12th at Der Wolfskopf Pub in Pasadena, CA. At this event, we’ll learn about X-rays and different kinds of black holes in talks by Dr. Marianne Heida: “How Superman Sees the Universe” and by Ron Tso: “Gravity and Holes in the Abyss.” In addition, we will host an astronomically-themed quiz with great space-related prizes for our winners. Come with your science questions, as there will be many world-renowned astronomers to mingle with between talks! In addition, Der Wolfskopf features a special Astronomy on Tap Happy Hour for discount prices on beer and food throughout our event.

Our June event will take place at a brand new venue: the Bell in Hand Tavern, located in the heart of Boston. This month, our theme is the search for alien life, and will feature talks by MIT astronomer Diana Dragomir and astrochemist Clara Sousa Silva. As usual, we will also have astro news and astronomy-themed games with prizes (including eclipse glasses and AoT Boston beer mugs!). Event is free of charge. Must be 21 years or older.
