Astronomy on Tap Champaign-Urbana: Sept. 17, 2020

On the 3rd Thursday every month, learn about the latest in our Universe at Astronomy on Tap, Champaign-Urbana.

Join us live on Youtube (https://youtu.be/937DeQBy74c) on Thursday, September 17 2020 at 6 PM CT (local) time for this month’s Astronomy on Tap CU!

Our speaker this month is Prof. Yoni Kahn, an assistant professor of physics at the University of Illinois. He is a theoretical physicist whose research focuses on dark matter. He manages to work well with experimental physics colleagues despite not being able to assemble Ikea furniture.

This month, Prof. Khan will talk about the search for dark matter. Deep under a mountain in Italy and in an abandoned gold mine in South Dakota, the hunt for dark matter is on. He will explain how some of these experiments work and what’s involved in designing new ones.

Grab a drink, bring your friends and family, and let’s have some fun while we learn! We hope to see you there!
