For the Crater Good: NASA’s $3M Lunar Recycling Challenge
October 22 @ 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM CDT
Savannah Bullard (Aeyon / NASA Centennial Challenges)
When we live on the Moon, who’s taking out the trash? In order to live sustainably on other celestial bodies, we have to answer this question. This is where NASA’s Centennial Challenges comes in: the competition program’s latest contest, LunaRecycle, asks solvers to invent novel systems for recycling and waste management for future lunar inhabitants. This talk will dive into the origins of the challenge, the incorporation of Digital Twin technologies, and the benefits the challenge could have on our Earth’s climate. A winning idea can earn you (yes, you!) a share of the $3 million prize.
