Astronomy on Tap Boston: Discovering Dark Matter Via Our Galaxy

Date: 6-8pm, August 12, 2026

Location: Aeronaut Brewing Co., 14 Tyler St, Somerville, MA (21+ venue)

Please note that Aeronaut is a 21+ venue and requires valid government-issued ID. Minors may attend only if accompanied by a 21+ parent or guardian. Otherwise, we welcome everyone to attend! Our event is FREE, first come first serve, with no RSVP required.

Come learn about how astronomers are using our Galaxy, the Milky Way, as a laboratory for dark matter and how they are building an instrument to observe the invisible! The speakers are Abby White (Harvard) and Vedant Chandra (Harvard & MIT), members of the VIA project which is developing new spectroscopic instruments and astronomical surveys of the Milky Way to answer fundamental questions of the Universe. As usual, we will end our event with space-themed trivia and fun prizes!

Each Astronomy on Tap Boston event features FREE, accessible, and engaging presentations by local astronomers about the Universe! Most events also have games and prizes to test your new knowledge! There is also plenty of time to ask questions, interact with presenters, and chat with other scientists who stick around for a beer.
