AoT Köln #16: 29.06.2022, Dr. Thomas Bisbas

We are back with our first in-person event! Live from the Expat Cafe & Bar in Köln (and on YouTube), join us to learn about astrochemistry with Dr. Thomas Bisbas. Thomas is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Universität zu Köln specialising in the chemistry of irradiated interstellar gas.
Title: “… in fact we are all stardust”
Summary: “The periodic table of chemical species is considered to belong to our basic knowledge as it is taught in schools all over the world. However, it took modern Astrophysics to examine the origin of these elements and to find out that almost all of them are made in stars. We will see where do these elements come from and by doing this, we will see how well they are connected to stellar evolution and the evolution of the Universe as a whole. And since we are made up of these elements which are made in stars, we are in fact stardust!”
