AoT Köln: Online Event #12, 2 September 2021

September 2, 2021 @ 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM CEST

Join us this Thursday when Andrea Gokus tells us about how astronomers view the climate crisis. Andrea is a doctoral candidate at the Universität zu Würzburg and Karl Remeis Observatory. We go live on YouTube at 19:00 CEST on 2 September.
Title: Does the climate crisis matter for astronomy?
Summary: “The climate crisis is increasingly affecting life on Earth as we know it. As astronomers, we know about the uniqueness of our planet and how delicate our whole biosphere is. As scientists, we have the responsibility to act as role models and change our currently unsustainable way of doing our work. To tackle this, ‘Astronomers for Planet Earth’ was founded in 2019, which now consists of more than 1100 members. Together, we’re finding sustainable ways to explore the Universe, and working to create a just and inclusive future for all of life on Earth.”
