Get excited for Astronomy on Tap at Bickerson’s Brewhouse in Ballard at 7pm! This month David and Binh will take us a journey where we will learn all about black holes and some history too!
Each FREE Astronomy on Tap event features accessible, engaging science presentations on topics ranging from planets to black holes to the beginning of the Universe. Most events have games and prizes to test and reward your new-found knowledge! There is always lots of time to ask questions and interact with the presenters and other scientists who inevitably stick around for the beer.

Speaker Bios:
Speaker: David Wang
Bio: David is a 4th year Astronomy and Astrobiology PhD student at the University of Washington. He is working on finding and characterizing low mass x-ray binaries, which are stellar systems where one component is either a neutron star or a black hole. He is also interested in the discovery and classification of rare transient events in all-sky surveys, particularly across many wavelengths of light. Outside of astronomy, David likes to do crosswords, bake things that are not too sweet, and plan long trips in the mountains. He also runs and watches a lot of baseball (go Ms).

Bio: Binh Nguyen (Nguyễn Bình) is a first-year PhD student at the University of Washington. Binh’s current focus involves galaxy evolution in cosmological simulations, but they are also interested in astronomical observations in the surviving records of medieval East Asia. Outside astronomy, Binh is a published poet, and their translation of the eighteenth-century Vietnamese verse novel Tale of Kiều is slated for release by a London-based independent publisher in 2025.
