Astro On Tap-Seattle: Hidden Planets in the Solar System?

July 24 @ 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM EDT

Who’s ready for a #AstroOnTap SHOWDOWN!? Our two speakers will be giving a joint talk “boxing match” style where they will take opposite view points in a friendly debate about whether another planet exists somewhere in our solar system! Ring side views are first come first serve on July 24th Bickersons Brewhouse at 7pm!

Each FREE Astronomy on Tap event features accessible, engaging science presentations on topics ranging from planets to black holes to the beginning of the Universe. Most events have games and prizes to test and reward your new-found knowledge! There is always lots of time to ask questions and interact with the presenters and other scientists who inevitably stick around for the beer.
Be sure to follow us on Twitter (@AoTSeattle), Instagram (@aotseattle), TikTok (@astroontapseattle) and on Facebook to get updates on future events!
Can’t make it to our event in person? Have no fear because you can always catch the live stream on our YouTube account or rewatch past favorites (https://www.youtube.com/@astronomyontapseattle2986/streams)!
Speaker Bios:
Jake Kurlander is a third-year PhD student at the University of Washington working on the Vera Rubin Observatory’s Alerts Production team, where he helps to prepare the observatory to identify known asteroids and discover new ones. In his free time, he boulders and hosts unreasonably long board game events.
Pedro Bernardinelli is a DiRAC postdoctoral fellow at the University of Washington, and completed his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania, and has led numerous searches for distant objects in our Solar System. Pedro is a heavy metal fan, and doesn’t know how many coffee makers he has in his house (more than 20!)
