Astronomy on Tap – Baton Rouge (February 2022)

February 15, 2022 @ 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM CST

Welcome to the greatest science talks in Baton Rouge! Come check out the fantastic speakers that have come to give us great talks from the comfort of your own home!

Wild and Wonderful Space Volcanoes

Dr. Caitlin Ahrens

We’ll explore the many flavors and varieties of volcanism on other planets and moons in our Solar System, especially looking at how these have evolved and produced some of the weirdest and wildest dynamics in volcanism! We’ll also dive into what makes cryo-volcanism so interesting (that’s right – ice volcanoes!)

Ocean Worlds of the Solar System and Beyond

Dr. Jessica Noviello

The ocean worlds of the Solar System are excellent targets for astrobiology, or the search for life beyond Earth. Studying these geologically fascinating planetary bodies helps put limits on where life can originate and survive. As research progresses, new ocean worlds are discovered in the Solar System and in exoplanetary systems that may be far different from our own. What can we learn from them? Dr. Jessica Noviello will lead you on a tour of the known ocean worlds near us, the potential exoplanet ocean worlds, and astrobiology in general.

Join us VIRTUALLY at 7 PM on February 15!
