Astronomy on Tap Copenhagen: Mars

February 25, 2023 @ 6:30 PM - 10:00 PM CET

Next to Earth Mars is probably the most popular planet of all times. At least when it comes to science! Already since the 1960s humans have send space crafts to Mars with the goal to learn more about the red world. In this edition of Astronomy on Tap Copenhagen, we will shed some light on the things that we have learned so far.
Our speakers are:
Eftychia Symeonidou: Is there life outside of Earth? If so, how does it look like? While we cannot answer these questions get, we can at least see if there is any life on Earth that could survive on the conditions we have on Mars.
Katrine Wulff Nikolajsen: The Curiosity rover landed on Mars more than a decade ago. Since then it has driven almost 30 km exploring the Gale crater. Katrine will tell us some more about this exiting journey.
Schedule:
18:30: Doors open to the STARDUST Room
19:00: Eftychia Symeonidou – Testing life under extreme conditions
19:30: Quiz and break
20:00: Katrine Wulff Nikolajsen – Curiosity rover and Gale crater: a decade-long field trip on Mars
Quiz! Join the half time quiz for a chance to win some drinks vouchers and test your knowledge about space monsters.
Astronomy on Tap is a (FREE) series of events aimed at making the latest research in astronomy and space accessible to the public, with fun talks given in simple ENGLISH, and quiz, and plenty of time for mingling between our speakers and guests.
