Astronomy on Tap: Energetic Extremes

September 14, 2022 @ 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM EDT

This edition of Astronomy on Tap Copenhagen shows us the Univserse at the extreme. We will look at it both through the eyes of long radio waves and extremely energetic gamma rays.
Our speakers are:
Prof. Kasper Heintz: He will take us on an investigative journey to explore what causes the mysterious cosmic explosions known as fast radio bursts and how they may solve the “missing matter” problem of the universe.
Prof. Mauricio Bustamante: His talk will introduce us to messengers from deep space raining on Earth every moment. The fastest of these atoms, gamma rays, and neutrinos even come from the edge of the universe, billions of light-years away. Yet, despite decades of progress, their origin remains shrouded in mystery. Fortunately, after a long wait, we may be on the verge of transformative progress.
Schedule:
18:30: Doors open to the STARDUST Room
19:00: Prof. Kasper Heintz – Fast Radio Bursts
19:30: Quiz and break
20:00: Prof. Mauricio Bustamante – The most energetic particles
Quiz! Join the half time quiz for a chance to win some drinks vouchers and test your knowledge about space.
Astronomy on Tap is a (FREE) series of events aimed at making the latest research in astronomy and space accessible to the public, with fun talks given in simple ENGLISH, and quiz, and plenty of time for mingling between our speakers and guests.
