Astronomy on Tap: Evolution of the Universe

March 25, 2023 @ 6:30 PM - 10:00 PM CET

The Universe is constantly changing. Galaxies are born and stars burn out. And even the universe itself is expanding as we speak. In this month edition of Astronomy on Tap we will hear about starburst galaxies and dark matter and dark energy.
Our speakers are:
Bitten Gullberg: Starburst galaxies are the most intense star-forming galaxies in the history of the Universe. Although these distant galaxies had a great impact on the evolution of galaxies, there is still much we do not know about them, for example: what triggers and drives this intense star-formation?
Christoph Köhn: He will give us a brief introduction to the mysterious dark matter and dark energy and tell us what the cosmological constant has to do with Einstein’s “donkey”. He will also present a possible solution to the “cosmological constant problem” (“the worst theoretical prediction in the history of physics”) by introducing a second time time dimension.
Schedule:
18:30: Doors open to the STARDUST Room
19:00: Bitten Gullberg – Starburst galaxies
19:30: Quiz and break
20:00: Christoph Köhn – Dark matter and dark energy
Quiz! Join the half time quiz for a chance to win some drinks vouchers and test your knowledge.
Astronomy on Tap is a (FREE) series of events aimed at making the latest research in astronomy and space accessible to the public, with fun talks given in simple ENGLISH, and quiz, and plenty of time for mingling between our speakers and guests.
