Astronomy on Tap in the Triangle – Cosmic Alchemy

Come check out Astronomy on Tap Triangle, our North Carolina chapter of short and engaging talks about astronomy over beer. Find us in the taproom of Fullsteam Brewery in Durham, NC from 7-9 PM on Wednesday, February 1st!
Do you wish money grew on trees? Or perhaps you could make your own gold? Well you’re in luck! We are going to learn all about how the Universe makes gold. It is as easy as smashing star-sized atomic nuclei together in space! Come hear Dr. Carl Rodriguez (UNC-CH) talk about the detection of gravitational waves and light from merging neutron stars, and how these kind of events produce most of the gold and other heavily elements we find on Earth.
Don’t forget to get there on time for a quick round of astronomy trivia and special prizes! We’ll also have some (earth-based) telescopes out front for you to check out if the weather cooperates.
