Astronomy on Tap in the Triangle: From Observation to Information

Come check out Astronomy on Tap Triangle, our North Carolina chapter of short and engaging talks about astronomy over beer. Find us in the taproom of Fullsteam Brewery in Durham, NC from 7-9 PM on Wednesday, December 6th!

How is it that observations from land-based and space-based telescopes tell us a lot about distant stars and galaxies? What is measured here and how is that information interpreted to give us astronomical models? Join us as Dr. Diane Markoff (NC Central) explores a few examples, looking at what is observed, and how a little physics developed on Earth goes a long way to reveal information about far away objects and the universe.

Don’t forget to get there on time for a quick round of astronomy trivia and special prizes! We’ll also have some (earth-based) telescopes out front for you to check out if the weather cooperates.
