Astronomy on Tap in the Triangle: Stealing the Sunlight – Your Guide to the 4/8/24 Eclipse

April 3 @ 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM EDT

Come check out Astronomy on Tap Triangle, our North Carolina chapter of short and engaging talks about astronomy over beer. Find us in the taproom of Fullsteam Brewery in Durham, NC from 7-8:30 PM on Wednesday, April 3rd!

Join us as Nick Eakes, a NASA/JPL Solar System Ambassador and Astronomy Educator from Morehead Planetarium and Science Center, talks all about the upcoming total solar eclipse on April 8th, 2024. Understand the science behind eclipse geometry and gather up some pro-tips for observing the total eclipse or, if you’re going to be in NC, the partial eclipse. Dive in to some historical accounts of eclipse lore, and find answers to questions like: Is it worth sitting in traffic for 12 hours to see totality? How do we view the eclipse safely? What have people learned from eclipses in the past?

Don’t forget to get there on time for a quick round of astronomy trivia and special prizes! We’ll also hopefully have some (earth-based) telescopes out front for you to check out if the weather cooperates.

There is always lots of time to ask questions and interact with the presenters and other scientists who inevitably stick around for the beer. We can’t wait to see you there!
