Astronomy on Tap Kingston – The Great Debate
November 30 @ 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM ESTFree
Astronomy on Tap in Kingston is back and in person!!
This free event on the top floor of Kingston Brewing Company.
Astronomy on Tap is a series of worldwide events where professional astronomers give informal talks at a local bar on topics of a broad interest in astronomy and astrophysics. This particular event will be a bit different than in the past, with two speakers going head-to-head in a great debate on theory vs experiment, giving time for questions and discussion. Speakers and other scientists will mingle with the audience between the rounds and after the debate, and there will also be a trivia session with questions related to astronomy, and prizes at the end!
For this event, we will two fantastic astronomers/astroparticle physicists: Mark Richardson and Steve Sekula, joined by host Nik Arora. The evening will include lots of opportunities to have a pint with some keen astronomers.
The event is free and open to all ages. The Kingston Brewing Company has alcohol and soft drinks, while due to constraints of the upstairs space a selection of food will be pre-purchase and provided to guests for free. Do feel free to grab a bite before the event! Astronomy on Tap will be upstairs as you come inside.
Space is limited, so we encourage you to arrive on time!
