Astronomy on Tap Los Angeles: Alien Oceans & Supermassive Black Holes

May 20 @ 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM PDT

Join us at 7:30PM PST, Monday, May 20th for Astronomy on Tap at the outdoor Dog Haus Biergarten in Old Town Pasadena. We’ll hear from NASA Jet Propulsion Research Scientist Dr. Kevin Hand: “Alien Oceans and the Search for Life in the Depths of Space,” as well as Caltech PhD Candidate Jean Somalwar: “How do Supermassive Black Holes Form?”  In addition, we will have a telescope on-hand for guided stargazing, professional astronomers to answer your science questions, astronomically-themed pub trivia with prizes, and live music with local rockstar Jason Achilles!  Lastly, Kevin Hand will host a signing of his new book: “Alien Oceans and the Search for Life in the Depths of Space” with copies available for purchase.

The event is free and open to all ages.  No reservations are necessary, just show up and stay only as long as you want. To view our past events, see our location page.  For more information about our future events and affiliated Stargazing Lecture Series at Caltech, see our website.
