Astronomy on Tap Los Angeles: Launching and Landing Spacecraft

April 10, 2023 @ 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM PDT

Join us at 7:30PM PDT, Monday, April 10th for an in-person Astronomy on Tap at the outdoor Dog Haus Biergarten in Old Town Pasadena. We’ll hear from NASA JPL’s Chief Engineer Rob Manning: “Landing Stuff on Mars is Hard,” and NASA JPL engineer Shannon Statham: “Shake & Bake: Preparing Spacecraft for the Extreme Conditions of Launch and Space.”  In addition, we will have a telescope on-hand for guided stargazing as well as astronomically-themed pub trivia with prizes!  There will also be live music in between talks from the amazing Jason Achilles and Forrest Mitchell.

The event is free and open to all ages.  No reservations are necessary, just show up and stay only as long as you want. To view our past events, see our location page.  For more information about our future events and affiliated lecture+stargazing series at Caltech, see our website.
