Astronomy on Tap Los Angeles: Supermassive Black Holes & Why Stars Exist

September 11, 2023 @ 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM PDT

Join us at 7:30PM PDT, Monday, September 11th for Astronomy on Tap at the outdoor Dog Haus Biergarten in Old Town Pasadena. We’ll hear from Caltech Postdoctoral Fellow Dr. Joanna Piotrowska-Karpov: “How Supermassive Black Holes Shape Their Host Galaxies” and Carnegie Observatories Hubble Fellow Dr. Mike Grudić: “Why Are Stars?”  In addition, we will have a telescope on-hand for guided stargazing, live music by Jason Achilles and Forrest Mitchell, professional astronomers to answer your science questions, and astronomically-themed pub trivia with prizes!

The event is free and open to all ages.  No reservations are necessary, just show up and stay only as long as you want. To view our past events, see our location page.  For more information about our future events and affiliated lecture+stargazing series at Caltech, see our website.
