Astronomy on Tap NYC #137 – Eclipse with taste of science

March 20 @ 7:00 PM - 9:15 PM EDT

**PLEASE NOTE – Free registration required, link coming soon**
Join taste of science ny and Astronomy on Tap NYC on the Upper East Side for an evening that is fun and informative, with professional scientists and educators plus games, prizes, and a bit of learning while drinking.

We will preview the upcoming Total Solar Eclipse, happening on April 8 in the mid-afternoon! While we won’t get totality here in NYC, it is close by, and we’ll explain all the details. PLUS – you’ll be making your own DIY eclipse viewer, and everyone in attendance gets a free pair of eclipse glasses (with more for sale!)

Speakers
•Betsy Hernandez, Visiting Researcher at AMNH/Educator at The Brotherhood Sister Sol, on how to safely watch the 2024 eclipse, and her experiences as an eclipse chaser.
•Matt Stanley, historian of science at NYU, telling the 100+ year old tale of Einstein betting everything on an eclipse. His ideas were both scientifically & politically radical, and all came down to a few minutes of darkness and a few points of light on a photograph.

Co-hosted by Rosemary Puckett from taste of science along with Astro on Tap’s MC Tycho Brewhaha, aka Brian Levine, and MC Annie Drunk Cannon, aka Kaitlin Schmidt. Doors open at 7pm, and the talks start at 7:30pm. There will be an activity/beer break between talks, and we should be done by 9:15pm! See you there!
