Astronomy on Tap NYC 145: Watching the Skies
September 17 @ 6:45 PM - 8:15 PM EDT
FreeJoin us for the Astronomy on Tap NYC’s 145th event, and the next in our monthly series at Pete’s Candy Store! Astronomy on Tap is fun and informative, with professional scientists and educators, plus games, prizes, and a bit of learning while drinking.
This month, we are looking up! And you won’t need a telescope to see what we’re talking about either. It’s an all naked-eye astronomy night – what we are talking about won’t require fancy equipment to see, and some of it was before telescopes were even used in astronomy!
Our speakers this month are:
•Shirin Gul Zaidi, CUNY, who will be talking about Tycho Brahe’s life, studies, and secret grad student, inspired at least in part by recent travel in Copenhagen.
•Shawn Ray, CUNY, who will be talking about the expected nova in Corona Borealis.
Doors open at 6:45pm, event start at 7pm SHARP. Arrive early to get your seats, grab a drink, and settle in for science talks, trivia, prizes, and fun!
