Astronomy on Tap San Francisco – February 2026

Astronomy on Tap is is a free public lecture series where astronomers give short, laid-back talks over drinks at local bars. No background in science required — our scientists share cool stuff about space while the audience just sits back and relaxes, with plenty of time to indulge their curiosity and ask whatever questions they want.
This month, we’re hosting:
Aparna Venkatesan, PhD – Who owns the night sky? The growing space environmentalism movement
and
Oliver Philcox, PhD – Echoes from the Beginning: Searching for Signals from the Early Universe
Venkatesan is a professor at the University of San Francisco. Philcox is an assistant professor in Physics at Stanford University, affiliated with both the Kavli Institute for Astrophysics & Cosmology and the Leinweber Institute for Theoretical Physics.
Astronomy on Tap takes place in cities all over the world. This is a revival of the San Francisco chapter, which regularly hosted events before the pandemic. We’re excited to be back on a monthly basis!
The event is free, but there is a 1 drink minimum.
