Astronomy on Tap: Stardust Origins

September 24, 2021 @ 6:30 PM CEST

Free

Astronomy on Tap is a (FREE) series of events aimed at making the latest research in astronomy and space accessible to the public, with fun talks given in simple ENGLISH, and quiz, and plenty of time for mingling between our speakers and guests.

September marks one year of Astronomy on Tap! So we will have our very own Georgy talk about stardust in meteorites and Associate Professor Darach Watson to talk about the origins of star dust.
Georgy V. Makhatadze (KU): Spends his days in the lab studying meteorites and trying to understand where they come from and what stories they tell.
Prof. Darach Watson (KU): Cosmic dust floats freely between the stars. It changes how stars form and is what planets are made of. But we still don’t know where it comes from or what it’s made of, and that is what Darach spends his days thinking of.
Schedule:
18:30: Doors open to the STARDUST Room
19:00: Georgy V. Makhatadze – Meteorites
19:30: Quiz and break
20:00: Prof. Darach Watson – Star dust
Quiz! Join the half time quiz for a chance to win some drinks vouchers.
CORONA INFORMATION: Seat reservations are no longer required, like previous events. We will be maintaining hygiene with hand sanitisers. We ask that if you are ill or showing symptoms of covid to reconsider your attendance.
