A mere four years after the launch of the first artificial satellite Sputnik, humanity sent one of our own into space, kicking off a decade-long race towards one of humankind’s crowing achievements: the landing astronauts on the moon. Since then, more than 600 human beings have travelled in space, and today we are on the precipice of a new era of human spaceflight, with settlements on the Moon and Mars becoming a real possibility in the next several years. These breakthroughs are all thanks to dramatic leaps forward in our spacecraft technology, and a renewed interest in establishing a permanent presence for humans beyond the Earth.
At ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐พ๐ ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ผ๐๐๐๐๐๐ผ๐๐, we’ll be talking about how we got to this incredible moment in crewed spaceflight, and where we’re going from here. Featuring talks by Dr. Jonty Marshall (ASIAA) on the ups and downs of astronaut training, Dr. Alex Teachey (ASIAA) on the future of humanity in space, and a very special talk by Brian Lin on meeting Apollo 13 astronaut Fred Haise.
