Astronomy on Tap Triangle – Through the Telescope Lens

October 5, 2022 @ 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM EDT

Come check out Astronomy on Tap Triangle, our North Carolina chapter of short and engaging talks about astronomy over beer. Find us in the taproom of Fullsteam Brewery in Durham, NC from 7-9 PM on Wednesday, October 5th!

Have you ever looked up at the night sky and wondered how astronomers know which bright dot is which? What’s the difference between the telescope I have in my backyard and the one that professional astronomers use? How the heck do I even use a telescope?!

Come get all of your questions answered on October 5th! Our very own Mae Dubay (UNC-CH) will be giving us a crash course in amateur astronomy. We will talk about equipment, finding your way around the night sky, some of our favorite objects, and tips and tricks for observing the Moon, planets, and more. On top of that, we are going to have real telescopes for you to look through and practice your new astronomy skills!

Then, Mackenna Wood (UNC-CH) will share with us how professional astronomers observe the sky and collect data for research.

Be sure to get there on time for a quick round of astronomy trivia and prizes!

There is always lots of time to ask questions and interact with the presenters and other scientists who inevitably stick around for the beer. We can’t wait to see you there!

Be sure to follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook to get updates on future events.
