2023 marks the 50th anniversary of America’s first space station, Skylab, where three crews of astronauts learned to live and work in Earth orbit, producing a wealth of knowledge both about a wealth of scientific research conducted aboard the station, but also about the fundamentals of how we’ll homestead space. Half a century later, as NASA prepares to return to the Moon and continue the journey to Mars, the lessons of Skylab continue to pave the way to other worlds.
