The Dog Days Are Over: Drink Some Beer, JWST Images Are Here!
August 11, 2022 @ 7:00 PM - 9:30 PM EDT
Astronomy on Tap Chicago returns to Begyle Brewing on August 11th for the conclusion of the “dog days of summer!” The phrase originates from an astronomical alignment between our Sun and the brightest star in the night sky, Sirius, which is part of the constellation Canis Major (Greater Dog). During the 2022 dog days, we saw some SIRIUSly cool images from the newly minted James Webb Space Telescope (JWST)! Two Northwestern CIERA astronomers will dive further into these now-famous images and explain how they will be using JWST data in their research to expand our knowledge of the universe! We will also have time for questions, drinking with local astronomers, and of course, trivia with prizes!
It’s sure to be a howling good time for all, and we double-dog dare you to bring a friend!
