On the 3rd Thursday every month, learn about the latest in our Universe at Astronomy on Tap, Champaign-Urbana.

This month, join University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Prof. Charles Gammie, a member of the Event Horizon Telescope team, to learn about how they took the first-ever picture of a black hole.

These are the most extreme regions of spacetime, where gravity is so strong that even light doesn’t escape. The team won the prestigious Breakthrough Prize for this accomplishment. Come find out how they did it by building a planet-sized telescope!

Events start at 6pm at Analog (129 N. Race Street, Urbana, IL). Food and drink available for purchase!
