Astronomy on Tap: Valley of the Sun engages the greater Phoenix metro region through science trivia and short astronomy talks.
AoT Valley of the Sun was founded by Luis Welbanks and is organized by a team of Arizona State University-affiliated astronomy researchers and students led by Jorge A. Sanchez and Skylar Grayson. The satellite serves the communities across Phoenix, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, Scottsdale, Peoria, Tempe, and Surprise.
Our logo easter egg: The stars map the ‘custom Valley of the Sun constellation’: Phoenix as the brightest star, with Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, Scottsdale, Peoria, Tempe (ring), and Surprise. Star sizes roughly track population. Logo designed by Skylar Grayson, Sophie Phillips and Lana Tilke.
