Space Drafts 28 at AoT-Tucson, Sep 28th at the Borderlands Brewing Co.

This month, #SpaceDrafts (Tucson’s local flavor of Astronomy on Tap), two of the University of Arizona’s up and coming graduate students will present their cutting-edge research!

K. Decker French and Kevin Robert Wagner (Steward Observatory)

Galactic Mergers and Supermassive Black Hole Chaos
and
Direct Imaging Discovery of a Planet in a Triple Star System

First up: You heard last month that if you smash two black holes together, you get an even bigger black hole! But what happens to the galaxy around that black hole? Decker French will show you just what happens when a hundred billion stars runs into another hundred billion stars! Next, you remember the twin suns of Tattoine in Star Wars? BORING! Kevin Wagner is using the VLT, and has found the first planet in a triple star system! And it’s directly imaged! Come see a whole new world!

As always, we’ll have telescopes setup outside if it’s clear, and there will be hot eats and cold beer. September 28st, 7pm at Borderlands Brewing Company!
