AoT Leiden, Monday 29th January @ Grand Café de Burcht

Our next edition will take place on Monday 29 of January at 20h in Grand Cafe De Burcht (Burgsteeg 14, 2312 JS Leiden). Join us for an evening of informal astronomy and great beer! In this occasion, Sera Markoff and Remo Tilanus will tell us about black holes and how they help us understand the Universe.

Sera Mankoff is a professor at the Anton Pannekoek Institute for Astronomy at University of Amsterdam. She works at the interface of Astrophysics and Astroparticle Physics, and is interested in a variety of problems relating to the accretion process especially around black holes, both big and small.

Remo Tilanus is the Program Manager of ALLEGRO, the European ALMA Regional Center node at the Leiden Observatory, and the Scientific Program Manager of the Event Horizon mmVLBI camera: the first project to directly observe a black hole.
