AoT Louisville, Wed Mar 6, 2019

The Juno and Cassini probes to Jupiter and Saturn confirmed that the alternating jet streams on these gas giants extend thousands of miles into their dark interiors. Dr. Tim Dowling (U Louisville) will discuss the powerful concept of vorticity and explain how it allows us to see underneath the great storms on those planets, and will review what Jupiter’s complicated jets tell us about shear stability in general. We’ll see you at Monnik Beer Co., 1036 E Burnett Ave, Louisville KY 40217 at 7pm in the Upper Room. See our calendar for details: http://www.physics.louisville.edu/ Then click on “Events”
