AoT Cradle of Astronauts: “Spooky Space Spectacular!”

October 18, 2022 @ 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM EDT

Astronomy on Tap is a series of events aimed at bringing astronomy and space science to the public, with informal talks by professional scientists, trivia, and beer!

This month we are embracing the Halloween spirit and talking about all things spooky space, with talks about vampire stars, space werewolves, and aliens.

Meet our speakers!

Danielle Dickinson is a PhD student in the Physics and Astronomy department at Purdue University. They received degrees in Astronomy and Physics at the University of Arizona prior to graduate studies. Danielle studies extragalactic supernovae as well as the Milky Way supernova remnant, Cassiopeia A, with the Webb Space Telescope, to understand the chaotic behavior of massive stars before they explode as a supernova. Danielle loves the outdoors, primarily rock climbing and hiking anywhere she can, and they also love spending time with their sink-loving cat, Minerva.

James Haber is a PhD candidate in Planetary Science at Purdue interested in the search for past and present life within our solar system. He works with data from the Curiosity and Perseverance rovers as well as orbiters and Earth analogs to study ancient habitable environments on Mars.
