Astro On Tap-Seattle: The Wonders of Our Solar System

September 27, 2023 @ 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM EDT

Get excited for Astronomy on Tap at Bickerson’s Brewhouse in Ballard at 7pm!
First Rudy Garcia will walk us through the newest results about the interior of Mars. And then up next Samantha Gilbert-Janizek will talk about how a graduate run program at UW is bringing astronomy and astrobiology to incarcerated youth!
Each FREE Astronomy on Tap event features accessible, engaging science presentations on topics ranging from planets to black holes to the beginning of the Universe. Most events have games and prizes to test and reward your new-found knowledge! There is always lots of time to ask questions and interact with the presenters and other scientists who inevitably stick around for the beer.
Be sure to follow us on Twitter and Facebook to get updates on future events!
Can’t make it to our event in person? Have no fear because you can always catch the live stream on our YouTube account or rewatch past favorites (https://www.youtube.com/@astronomyontapseattle2986/streams)!

Speaker: Rudy Garcia

In his (increasingly less) spare time he enjoys reading books and playing video games.
Speaker: Samantha Gilbert-Janizek
Bio: Sam Gilbert-Janizek is a fifth year PhD student in Astronomy at the University of Washington. She studies how we will use observations of rocky exoplanets to identify habitable (and perhaps inhabited) planets. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and their 2 papillon dogs.
