*NEW DATE* Astronomy on Tap Champaign-Urbana: The James Webb Space Telescope

Join us IN-PERSON at 6pm on Thursday, 3/3 for Astronomy on Tap at the Literary Bookstore and Bar! University of Illinois graduate students Kedar Phadke will be talking about the recently launched James Webb Space telescope:

“The James Webb Space Telescope” with Kedar Phadke
The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) was launched on December 25th, 2021. It is the biggest space telescope to have been launched and the commissioning of the instruments onboard is currently underway. This talk will focus on the different instruments on JWST and expected science results from them.

Kedar Phadke is a sixth year PhD candidate working with Prof. Joaquin Vieira on dusty star forming galaxies and transients found by the South Pole telescope. He is part of 3 projects which will use the James Webb Space Telescope in the first year of its observations.
