Astronomy on Tap in the Triangle: Binge-Watching the Sky

February 7 @ 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM EST

Come check out Astronomy on Tap Triangle, our North Carolina chapter of short and engaging talks about astronomy over beer. Find us in the taproom of Fullsteam Brewery in Durham, NC from 7-9 PM on Wednesday, February 7th!

Don’t miss this chance to learn how UNC astronomers plan to binge the night sky! Lawrence Machia (UNC-CH) will be telling us all about the Argus Optical Array telescope; the Argus Optical Array will make a horizon-to-horizon movie of the night sky with 900 telescopes in a single instrument. It will capture thousands of short-lived and rapidly changing events like violent stellar flares and exploding stars, potentially discover new solar system objects, and even help us narrow down which kinds of stars may be most likely to host life on the worlds orbiting them.

Don’t forget to get there on time for a quick round of astronomy trivia and special prizes! We’ll also have some (earth-based) telescopes out front for you to check out if the weather cooperates.

There is always lots of time to ask questions and interact with the presenters and other scientists who inevitably stick around for the beer. We can’t wait to see you there!
