Astronomy on Tap – Lyon

Astronomy on Tap Lyon is proud to present its very first event! Join us next Wednesday, January 31st for our kick-off event starting at 20:00. The event is FREE and everyone is welcome! We speak both French and English!

Bienvenue à la première édition d’Astronomy on Tap – l’évènement où on vous présente de la recherche en astrophysique par des astronomes de Lyon. Les présentations se fera en anglais, à priori, mais le quiz et les jeux sont présentés en français et en anglais. Donc venez apprendre avec nous, on fera notre mieux pour traduire et inclure tout le monde!!

The event will take place at the famous Elephant and Castle bar in the Old Town of Lyon. We will be in the basement, so turn right when you enter the bar (look for the signs) and you’ll see a hidden staircase taking you downstairs where the astronomy fun is waiting.

For this very first event, we’ll present a quick overview of different objects in the universe, from the smallest to the largest. Then we’ll dig into the different kinds of telescopes we use to observe all these phenomena. Our presenters for this event will be:
(1)  Guglielmo Costa presenting the size-scale of the Universe
(2)  Benedetta Veronesi presenting telescopes and what they see
(3)  The Big Astronomy Quiz!!

We will have a short game between the two talks while you refill your glasses at the bar. We’ll end the night with a fun and interactive quiz, so bring your favorite trivia team mates!
