Astronomy on Tap Tucson #100: From Venus to Hidden Galaxies
October 15 @ 7:30 PM - 9:30 PM MST
Tucson’s local flavor of Astronomy on Tap, Space Drafts, is excited to present its milestone 100th edition! On tap this month, we have Lunar and Planetary Laboratory and Steward Observatory astronomers Drs. Wesley Tucker and Michael Jones taking us on a journey from our own planetary neighbor, Venus, out into the cosmos to find galaxies.
Volcanoes, Coronae, and the Dynamic Surface of Venus – Wesley Tucker
&
Finding the lowest mass galaxies in isolation – Michael Jones
We’ll be out on the patio of the Toole location of Borderlands Brewing Company (119 E. Toole Ave, Tucson AZ, accessible via stairs and a ramp) at 7:30pm MST on October 15. There is street parking near the venue, and several bus lines run to the Toole/7th Ave. bus stop right next door. If you’re feeling up for a bit of walking, the Sun Link street car runs to Congress/6th Ave (if going westbound) or SL/Broadway/Church (if going eastbound), about half a mile away from Borderlands. And you can also join us online at bit.ly/SpaceDrafts99 if you can’t make it in person!
Please click to RSVP on Facebook to help us with logistics. If you are interested in receiving notifications of any upcoming event directly in your inbox, please jot down your preferred contact email address through this link.
As always, Space Drafts is FREE and open to all ages! Bring your four-legged friends too!
