Solar Eclipses in 2023 and 2024

On October 14, 2023 an annular eclipse will be visible across the continental US, followed by a total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024. The path of totality for the April eclipse will travel along a narrow band and traverse the US from Texas to Maine, within a five-hour drive from Huntsville. The total eclipse will be accompanied by a partial solar eclipse across the entire continental US. This will be the last total solar eclipse visible in the continental US until 2044. In this talk, we will go over the how and why of eclipses and how to view them safely. We will also provide resources and discuss citizen science projects available for your participation during the upcoming eclipse next month and the total eclipse in the spring.
