AoT Leiden, Monday June 26 @ Grand Café de Burcht

The fourth edition of Astronomy on Tap Leiden will take place on Monday 26 June at 20h in Grand Cafe De Burcht (Burgsteeg 14, 2312 JS Leiden). Join us for an evening of informal astronomy and great beer! This edition is titled “Seeing Double“! The event will feature two professional astronomer speakers as well as games and quizzes:

– Martha Irene Saladino performs astronomical simulations of double stars – stars which, unlike our Sun, orbit a companion star – to study the faith of the surviving star as its partner dies. In this talk she will guide us trough the lives of double stars while pointing out interesting facts of their evolution.

– Ylva Götberg works with observations of double stars. Double stars communicate with each other by exchanging enormous amount of material throughout their lives. These interactions drastically alters how the stars look like and their surroundings. In this talk, she will tell us all the implications of double stars in the early evolution of the Universe.

– In between the talks, there will be fun astronomical games and quizzes! Use this opportunity to improve your astronomical knowledge or just show off to your friends!
