Astronomy on Tap DC: June 27, 2018

Astronomy on Tap DC returns to the 2nd floor of DC9 Nightclub on Wednesday June 27 to celebrate NASA Fermi’s 10th birthday! Our speakers will highlight some of Fermi’s most exciting discoveries with the following talks:

You Can’t Do That in This Galaxy (or can you)?Toni Venters (NASA Goddard Space Flight Center)

One Photon at a Time: Finding the Fastest Spinning Stars – Matthew Kerr (Naval Research Lab)

Gamma Rays and Gravitational Waves: A Race Over 100 Million Years – Eric Burns (NASA Goddard Space Flight Center)

We’ll have prize giveaways, including astronomy trivia where you can win an Astronomy on Tap DC pint glass! AoTDC T-shirts and additional AoTDC pint glasses will be available for a small donation.

Following the talks, we’ll have telescope viewing on the rooftop bar, courtesy of Becca Ljungren and other astronomy educators from the Phoebe Waterman Haas Public Observatory at the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum.
