AoT Baton Rouge – 8 August Varsity Theatre

Welcome to the greatest science talks in all of Baton Rouge! This month we have:

Alex Igl

Ancient Astronomical Instrumentation

Imagine you are a farmer in a time before modern calendars. Keeping track of planting seasons could be a difficult problem to solve! Ancient cultures developed a number of instruments to track seasons, follow the sun, and study other planets and stars.

Karunya Shirali

Hunting the Boojum: Superfluids in Nature

What is a superfluid? How does it form? Where can you find one? What exciting things can a superfluid do? In my talk, I’m going to answer these questions and more, describing how superfluids show up in diverse fields of physics as exotic states of matter, including neutron stars, as well as reveal the mysterious Boojum.

Join us at 7 pm, 8 August at:
