This month, #SpaceDrafts (Tucson’s local flavor of Astronomy on Tap) will rock!
You think Arizona summers are extreme? Join LPL grad, Jonathan Bapst, to learn about the climate on Mars. It’s a dry cold! Then, join PSI scientist and prodigious observer, Gil Esquerdo (yes, he has an asteroid named after him), to learn about the successor to the incredible Kepler Mission: NASA’s Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite – TESS, and how we’re going to find tens of rocky worlds like Earth!
April 26th, 7pm, at the Borderlands Brewing Company (119 E. Toole Ave, Tucson AZ)
Click to RSVP on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/events/637541746452344/) to help us for logistics! Come hungry!
Wednesday, April 26th, 7.00pm
As always, Space Drafts is FREE and open to all ages! Bring your four-legged friends too!
Now that we’ve recovered from our 1-year anniversary, we return to the Beer Grotto on August 10th for another Astronomy on Tap! At this event, we’ll explore interesting objects in our solar system that aren’t the usual planets we know and love while also discussing the nature of planets around other stars. Make sure you enter to win one of our awesome raffle prizes and don’t miss out on the opportunity to talk to some of the scientists that live and work in the Lansing area. Our featured speakers include recent MSU PhD graduate, Dr. Thomas Connor, and Rachel Salmon, a current PhD student in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at MSU. Come hungry, thirsty, and curious!
Also, like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter!
After a packed house for our sixth event, we can’t wait to take over the Beer Grotto again in less than two weeks! Come join us for another awesome night of tasty brews and stellar science. This event will feature two out of town speakers who will take us on a journey from the first stars to form in our universe to the myriad of ways that stars take on new life after death. There will be food and drink specials, raffles prizes, and opportunities to chat one-on-one with some of your friendly neighborhood astronomers.
Our featured speakers will be Dr. Katie Auchettl, Postdoctoral Fellow at the Center for Cosmology and AstroParticle Physics at The Ohio State University, and Dr. Britton Smith, Postdoctoral Research at the Institute for Astronomy at the University of Edinburgh.
Come with questions and a powerful appetite for libations and knowledge!
